Agricultural Trader sales consultant, Kelly Grant, shrugged off a broken foot to cross the finish line at the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 13th March
Kelly thought cramp had set in at mile 10 of the 13-mile road race but continuing to push herself through to pain to raise £850 for North Devon charity Everything Ellie.
“It wasn’t until Monday morning that the doctor said I had a stress fracture,” said Kelly.
“It was a bit of a surprise but I’m glad it didn’t stop me finishing.”
Kelly had been training for the event since November last year, with regular runs between Fremington and Instow.
“I’m a complete novice when it comes to running and started from scratch.
“I built up slowly over the weeks and was really pleased with how it went – I did what I set out to do.
Kelly chose to run for Everything Ellie, a charity set up in memory of Barnstaple teenager Ellie Easton, who lost her battle with leukaemia in March last year.
The charity provides a beach hut at Saunton Sands for people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
